I finally had some free time to toss up a new blog entry. Quite a bit has happened since the previous entry.
Mostly I've just been super busy kicking myself in the head via working overtime. I worked my rotation day off nearly every week in November, and am doing so again so far in December, today in fact is supposed to be my day off. The most irritating thing about it is that my overtime day has thus far been the worst day I've worked in that given week. Obviously part of this is the knowledge that I could have been home snoozin it up in my boxers rather then at work floozin it up in my jeans. The added work income will hopefully come in handy with all of Jessica and I's spendy plans for the next month or two.
In order to take advantage of that segway I may as well talk about our new couch. We ordered a coach from a company that is I believe called Home Reserve. Its a nice looking couch, but I'm not 100% sold on its comfort level yet. For some reason the arms are made with zero padding on the side. And to make them even more supremely uncomfortable there are various holes in the wood sides as well, so its hard and edgy... maybe I should call the couch Morning Wood Billy Idol.... But its actual cushions are nice, and even though the storage inside the couch isn't remotely as awesome as we allowed ourselves to believe, its still nice to be able to have a place for spare sheets; and I managed to stuff all of our midgets into one section (I of course had to drain them of their life juice first). The only downside of the new couch is that it immediately f*cked Boots' couch. The second night we had the couch she/he decided to make it his/hers. So now Boots lives outside, constantly glaring inside through the sliding glass door in a mixture of rage and 'poor me' eyes ala Shrek.
Now we are knee deep in the process of trying to decide whether or not to spend some serious *serious for poor folk like us anyway* cash on a new TV. Its doubly chancy because the one I think I want the most is a refurb deal, I'll get a warranty on it obviously; but its still pretty chancy. Plus we have to decide by December 8th which is pretty damn soon. I'm hoping we end up having the scratch to swing it, I believe we are moving in that direction. I'm sure I'll have some elation filled blog post if we end up getting TV humongous, I think I'll call him Bill.
Thanksgiving was really really great; there were a few hitches which I will go into, but overall it was super great. It started off great because we through a HUGE (for our Japanese standard sized house) Friendgiving on Wednesday. The amount of food in proportion to the amount of people was way out of wack, I think we only ate about 1/3 of what was available, but we took care of the 10ish bottles of wine, so I was proud of us anyway. I'd post more but I'm sure Jessica will do it more justice, with pictures to boot! Basically it was 15 unsavory folks, 6 pies, 6 hours long, (3 of which were spent in the trench's of the ever popular 'Tits and Ass' debate) and ended in full stomachs and smiles. The next day went pretty well to, the only bummers being that I missed much of my mothers thanksgiving in her computer room trying to decide on what Garmin I wanted to purchase (I ended up liking the Nuvi 260W) only to find out they had gotten us one for X-mas already (the Nuvi 205 if memory serves); so that was a big waste of time and made me miss out on family fun times, which I actually enjoy in shotgun like bursts. Then we had to skip my old man's all together because they moved the time back an hour. We then went to Jessica's thanksgiving, which can best be described as a sleep deprivation study. Your awake for a long time, but not much is going on, and you wish you were sleeping. Luckily the trolls in the basement shared with us their reclaimed Harry Lego bounty, much fun was had at the expense of random lego parts now surely being found in that room for years to come.
Eventually we escaped the Fun Vacuum that is the Paul's and traveled North to what Joan terms "little Sodom" (or little Gomorrah or whatever she said/ makes sense - I'm luckily unburdened by a religious database). After this I began a 3 day LAN party. If your unfamiliar with the term picture a room of either way to skinny or way to fat people, lots of computer created heat, ample supplies of Cheetos, Mt. Dew and at our age Alcohol and lots and lots of laughter and yelling. It was immensely fun, but I neglected my wife during these three days and I'm sorry (love you sweetie!) My consensus from this time is that A: We never should have stopped playing glorious MechWarrior and B: What the hell were all those Chinese slaves bitching about? Wall making is awesome!
I probably have many other tales of boredom, debauchery and everything in between I could share, but I've wasted enough of my time and whatever hapless soul just read this drivels time.
So without further ado...
